Concrete masonry units — block — give you a strong, fire-safe, termite-proof core that can be finished to match anything: stucco to the house, stone veneer, or a clean precision-block face. Grouted solid with reinforcement, a block wall behaves as one structural element rather than a stack of parts.

The footing does the work

Every lasting wall sits on a formed, reinforced concrete footing below grade, sized for the wall’s height and load. Vertical steel ties the footing to the wall; horizontal steel ties the courses together. Skip any of that and the wall telegraphs it — stair-step cracking, leaning, separation at corners.

Retaining walls add drainage

A retaining wall also has to manage water. Saturated soil behind a wall pushes hard, so we waterproof the back face, backfill with free-draining gravel, and run a perforated drain that daylights or ties into the yard’s drainage. That’s the difference between a wall that holds a slope for decades and one that bulges after the first wet winter.
